Ameriški slog pipe iz koruznih storžev (Corncob pipe) je poceni in učinkovit, čeprav nekateri menijo, da niso elegantne.

Prvi in največji proizvajalec pip iz koruznih storžev je Missouri Meerschaum iz Washingtona, zvezna država Missouri, v ZDA, kateri jih proizvajajo že od leta 1869.

Ameriški pisatelj Mark Twain in general Douglas MacArthur sta bila morda najbolj znana kadilca te vrste pip, skupaj z risanima junakoma Popajem (Popeye) in Frostyjem Snežakom (Frosty the Snowman).

Ta vrsta pipe ne potrebuje ukajevanja, kot pipe iz vrese (briar) in iz ostalega lesa. Iz teh razlogov so priporočljive za začetnike, čeprav jih cenijo tudi izkušeni kadilci pip, ko si želijo hladnega in čistega dima.

Piparji, ki želijo kar najhitreje poskusiti čim več vzorcev najrazličnejših tobačnih mešanic ponavadi uporabijo Corncob pipo/-e, katera/-e omogočajo brezskrbno večkratno uporabo, ne da bi s tem poškodovali svoje najljubše pipe iz briar-ja.

Corncob pipes remain popular today because they are inexpensive and require no “break-in” period like briar and other wooden pipes.

For these two reasons, corncob pipes are often recommended as a “beginner’s pipe”, however, they are equally valued by both learners and experienced smokers who simply desire a cool, clean smoke.

Pipesmokers who wish to sample a wide variety of different tobaccos and blends also might keep a stock of corncobs on hand to permit them to try new flavors without “carryover” from an already-used pipe.
