A series of posts with basic tips that come in handy when smoking a pipe: from initial preparation, filling, lightning, smoking, cleaning and more.

When the tobacco has been filled into the pipe, it is lighted with matches or gas lighter (specially adapted to light a pipe with an angle of flame) all over the entire surface.

Then we make some smoke pufs and after a minute the tobacco on the top is lightly and gently tampered and again lighted: steady, nice  and slowly.

The point is that the fire covers the entire surface of the tobacco, both at the center and at the edges of the tobacco chamber (bowl).

Of course, we must be careful not to damage the edge of the bowl with fire.
